CORRUPTOR, THE
Reviewed August 29th, 1999 by Staff

New Line’s newest release of The Corruptor touches on the moral issues that cops have to deal with on a daily basis. It shows how easily the seduction can be accepted, turning a good cop into a bad one! You see how far is too far. You also see how the various agencies, police, FBI, etc. stab each other in the back and plainly don’t cooperate. Uncle Benny, the very same “Uncle Benny” from Lethal Weapon stars as one of the bosses in china town (the actor plays the same kind of character with the same name – but it is not the same character). The star Chow Yun-Fat is a police officer that works china town and has been seduced by the evil bosses. How far has he been seduced, does he still know right or wrong, watch the movie! This was not a huge box office hit, but is one great flick!

The video transfer is top notch! Presented in widescreen format at an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 and is anamorphically enhanced. Definitely a movie to show off your TV and what DVD can offer.

The audio while a bit soft is also top notch work. The Dolby Digital 5.1 sound track is remarkably clear. Vocals and action sequences are well balanced.

This feature rich title is well worth the price. You get a feature length commentary by director James Foley, a music video UGK “Take it Off”, Original theatrical trailer, Cast and Crew biographies, The making of featurette, and even the full script on the DVD-ROM content, as well as, up to the minute information on every cast and crew member. You will also enjoy the fully animated menus. Overall one of the top ten DVD’s out!
