DEUCE BIGALOW MALE GIGOLO
Reviewed July 10th, 2000 by David Colby

Can you be a Man Whore? Often being a prostitute, male or female is shown in a desirable light, a lifestyle that is nothing but great things. Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo shows you that it is not all it is cracked up to be. This movie brings out the truth about getting Freaky! While not a family movie this one can be enjoyed by the 18 and over crowd. Deuce is a fish tank cleaner that finds himself cleaning a Male Gigolo’s fish tank. Soon Deuce is asked to take care of one of his sick fish and gets to taste the good life that Man Whoring can offer. Deuce accidentally destroys the guy’s place and has to put everything right within the 3-week period that the Gigolo is out of town. Deuce becomes a Man Whore that does not have sex with his Jane’s. Deuce instead realizes why women reach out for Male companionship and while he does this he meet’s the girl of his dreams. Of course she is shocked by what he has been doing and it becomes a matter of winning her back. The movie is short running about 83 minutes in length. The movies is down right hilarious and the only down side is that a lot of the funnier clips were used in the trailers, TV spots, etc.

The audio is great a full 5.1 Dolby Digital sound track is provided. You will hear every shatter of each aquarium and each squeak of the squeegee. Although not an action film you will not be disappointed with this audio. It is full and complements the movie well!

The Video is Widescreen at a ratio of 1.85:1 and is anamorphically enhanced. This is truly a great transfer, very clear and sharp with super vibrant colors that do not bleed. No artifacting is found, but you will notice a blotch every now and then that must have been on the print that was used for the making of the DVD. Overall you could not ask for much better of a transfer.

Taking into account the great audio and video it is not surprising that the extra’s would be lacking. This one is a bare bones version that has a production featurette, nothing more then an extended trailer, along with a theatrical trailer and storyboard-to-scene comparisons. So not much as extra’s go, but I guess we can hope for an SE in the future. Pick this title up for under $20 and it will add to the nice comedy offering you have in your DVD collection. This is a scream riot!
