The Faculty is an interesting story based on the popular “invasion of the body snatchers” theme. Robert Patrick [T2 fame], Salma Hayek, Elijah Wood, Jon Stewart and some new-comers round out the cast. The story is basically about a high school that gets taken over by another life form. First, it is the teachers and then the students who get taken over. Lots of twists and turns as the movie progresses. Watch for the character named “Zeke” and his performance with John Stewart.
The film is presented in widescreen format (1.85:1). The transfer is not 16x9 enhanced but is very detailed. No signs of compression problems at all. Color level is dead on and the blacks are excellent. The disc is very well done.
Audio is presented in DD 5.1 and is VERY clear. The .1 LFE channel will give your sub a good work out. The dialog is clear and the use of the surrounds will blow you out of your seat.
The Faculty is a highly entertaining movie and this DVD is recommended. It is Rated R for language, semi-nudity and violence. It runs about 104 minutes and has 31 chapter stops.
