FATHER OF THE BRIDE
Reviewed July 22nd, 1999 by Staff

Touchstone Pictures is at it again with a great cast including Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams and Martin Short in the movie Father of the Bride. The movie basically details out all the behind the scenes wedding planning and chaos that occurs to host a wedding. Steve Martin is hilarious as the father of Kimberly Williams. From decisions, to costs to almost having to cancel the wedding you live the comical horrors of a wedding. This is a movie the whole family will enjoy!

The video quality was fair. You can tell that no special remaster was done. It would position itself somewhere in the middle between what the best VHS has to offer and what DVD can offer. The transfer showed hints of grain and was not very vibrant.

The sound is presented in Dolby Surround or what you might know better as Dolby Pro Logic. The audio is not very impressive with a limited use of the rear channels and your sub is going to be sleeping most of the way through the movie. The audio of course is clearer then you have ever heard the movie before, but is still not the best that DVD can offer. Keep in mind that Dolby Digital 5.1 is the DVD Audio Standard!

Extras are as to be expected, with only a single trailer included on the disc. Very disappointing, but not surprising since there has been a general lack of extra's on the whole Disney line. Overall if you can catch this movie on sale get it, it is fun and enjoyable, but don't expect to show off your DVD system with it.
