HOOK
Reviewed March 19th, 2000 by Staff

Robin Williams is one of those actors that can pretty much pull off any kind of role.

Hook (directed by Steven Spielberg) is basically the story of what happens to Peter Pan (Williams) if he grew up on Earth. Peter is now a lawyer and is married to Wendy’s granddaughter of all people. Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman) is back and kidnaps Peter’s children and he must return to Never Land to rescue them. Along the way he must remember what it’s like to be Peter Pan (to fly, etc.), but he has a little help from good ole Tinkerbell (Julia Roberts) and the Lost Boys.

Most people did not like this movie much – however it does have its moments of pure imagination.

The image is presented in 2.35:1 widescreen (16x9 enhanced) and is almost perfect. The image detail is unreal. A very good job from Columbia Tri-Star. Colors and black levels are dead on.

The 5.1 soundtrack is equally amazing. This disc sounds VERY good. A 2.0 track is also provided but it does not even compare to its 5.1 sister. You’ll hear the directions and the bass also kicks.

The only thing really lacking on this disc is any extras. Included is some production notes and talent files and a trailer for Hook and Jumanji.

Overall a very impressive disc! The movie runs 142 minutes and is rated PG.
