INSPECTOR GADGET
Reviewed December 20th, 1999 by Staff

“Go Gadget Go!”

Matthew Broderick is back in this remake of the classic cartoon. In the movie, we get to see how “Inspector Gadget” is invented – since they never told us on the cartoon – the movie makers did a pretty ok job inventing the back story.

John Brown (Broderick) is a security guard who during a robbery gets seriously injured. To save his life, he becomes an involuntary subject to an experimental crime fighting project (sound like Robocop anyone?). John Brown is fitted with mechanical limbs and accessories from his hat to his feet.

John Brown, now in his new body of sorts, must not only work out all the bugs in his system, but also track down the bad guy – Dr. Claw (Rupert Everett).

Overall, an interesting and fun movie that lovers of the old cartoon should like – bringing back many elements of the old cartoon.

The video is presented in 1.85:1 widescreen format and overall is a good transfer. The image seems clear. Colors and black levels seem right on.

The audio is presented in DD 5.1 and works very well throughout the film. Dialogue and the special effects are clear.

This Disney disc actually has extra’s: a featurette, a trailer, and even a music video.
